FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
Q: What is Sus-Mesh?
A: A type of woven stainless steel mesh which forms a uniform pore size which ensures even and regular flow of clean and filtered oil to the engine.
Q: What are the benefits of a stainless steel mesh over a paper element?
A: Outstanding durability -- because of its strong structure and material, there is less chance of the filter media collapsing or rupturing. Higher oil flow rate - its less restrictive and superior filtration capability (constant pore size) provides and distributes oil pressure evenly (low differential pressure), thus providing a higher performance. Less Lubricant Oil Consumption (LOC) – since there is a higher oil flow, there is less friction on the internal engine parts, less heat is generated, and less oil is consumed. Having more oil on moving parts can decrease the amount of engine noise. More environmentally friendly – since the filter is made of 98.85% steel (everything except the rubber gasket and anti-drain valve), it can be easily recycled.
Q: Does your filter contain a “check” valve (anti-drain valve)?
A: Yes. All PowerLong filters come standard with a check valve. This valve prevents the backward flow of oil when the engine has stopped.
Q: Does your filter contain a “by-pass” or “relief” valve?
A: Yes. All PowerLong filters come standard with a by-pass/relief valve. It is only activated for the oil to pass through in the event the filter element is clogged or when your engine is cold and the oil is thicker.
Q: What is a micron?
A: An object that is 1 micron in size is .000039 inches in diameter (39 millionths of an inch). A human hair measures approximately 70 microns in diameter. The human eye can see particles to about 40 microns.
Q: Why is your filter housing smaller than the one I normally use?
A: A smaller housing enables the oil pressure to build up and start flowing through the engine quicker.
Q: How can using a PowerLong oil filter improve my fuel economy and acceleration?
A: You will have better acceleration because more oil is going through your engine. The moving parts receive more lubrication, thus work more efficiently and powerfully. A smoother running engine and instant response in acceleration will lead to more economical fuel consumption.
Q: How often do I need to change my oil?
A: Follow the manufacturer’s scheduled maintenance outlined in your vehicle’s owner manual.
Q: Can I use the motor oil I currently use in my vehicle?
A: Yes. You can use any motor oil recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. In order to obtain optimum results, however, when possible, we recommend using synthetic oils. The molecules are uniform in size; therefore, enhancing the oil flow. (Always check with your mechanic regarding the best oil for your vehicle.)
Q: Is the installation of your oil filter different than other brands?
A: No. You just apply film of clean oil to filter gasket Screw new filter on until gasket reaches base. YOU MUST TIGHTEN ONE FULL TURN. (Use an oil filter wrench if necessary.)
Q: If I use a PowerLong oil filter, will it void my manufacturer’s warranty?
A: No. Refer to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975. Consumers have the right to upgrade or add to their vehicle without affecting the warranty. Under the act, aftermarket equipment, be it mudflaps or oil filters, does not void a vehicle’s original warranty unless that warranty clearly and conspicuously states that aftermarket equipment voids the warranty. Most states have legislation or statutes that further protects the owners of vehicles.
Q: Are PowerLong filters manufactured according to the requirements set forth under QS9000 and ISO 9001? What are QS 9000 and ISO 9001 and how do they affect me?
A: Yes, PowerLong filters are manufactured according to QS 9000 and ISO 9001 requirements. QS 9000 defines the fundamental quality standards of Chrysler, Ford, General Motors (aka The Big Three), and other truck manufacturers and other subscribing companies. The ultimate objectives of QS 9000 are the continuous improvement, defect reduction, and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. ISO 9001 refers to what the organization does to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer and applicable regulatory requirements and to continually improve its performance (quality management).
To the consumer, this means that all QS 9000 and ISO 9001 certified products meet the quality standards of The Big Three.
